Hey all,
this is just a bit of the masthead ideas I had--I know, not much variety, but meh, that's easily fixed later if we don't find one we like this week.

Week_2 Images Possibilities for Color Pallettes (Joey)

Week_2 (Joey)

We, according to Baker, are responsible for 8 pages plus partial work on the cover design.
Here's the word doc (copy/pasted) from her out box and her handout:

Length of Magazine
The requirement for the magazine is 1 signature (8-pages) per student plus cover. This typically adds up to approximately nine pages of content each. If there are 3 members to a team – 3 x 8 = 24 pages plus cover (4 pages) = a 28 page booklet.

Magazine Elements:
Cover Requirements: Title, Date, 1 main feature, 1 main image, Price, Barcode, 4 minor features

Masthead and graphic standards:
Logo design for masthead; primary and secondary typefaces; used for body copy and other typographic elements (other than headline which can differ). Color palette and folio styles to present a cohesive branded publication.

Table of Contents:
Requirements: Page #, Title, Issue Specific Title & Short Description
Represent all stories/categories to feature
EXAMPLES: Letter from the Editor, One Feature Story, Other stories, Calendar of Events, Humor, Reviews, etc. (You may add other categories as needed.)

Contributors page:
List the following titles with names of the contributors:
Example: Editor in Chief, Creative Director, Designers, Photographers, Writers and Illustrators

Page Requirements:
Spreads should have ads inserted in layout. Page breaks, story lengths and copy flow will be determined by the team design.
Requirements: Page #, Title, Folio, Copy (NOT GREEKED TEXT) may be extracted from a known source, and must relate to subject matter.
Ads can be taken from real magazines and should be relevant to the target audience.
Section headers for each section (possibly break into three or four sections – one per team member)

Graphic Requirements:
Proprietary primary and secondary fonts to be used for all copy in magazine (not including story headlines)
Folio design includes magazine title, issue date and page number
Color palette standards
Section header designs

Front and back cover:
Team will determine the cover story; inside cover is typically advertising.

Storyboard:
Layout of the entire publication in one document to show content and page flow (template is provided in-class.)

Grid:
Each team will turn a template of the grid that they will all be using.
(Examples are provided)

Ok, so, for each of us, we'll definitely need to prepare a masthead-or masthead comps, soon. (if we don't do this in class.) Start looking for content (articles, high-res photos, style ideas ((I think we're all up on the Pop-Art/Comic Stylization idea for the most part)) we should start considering what we want to highlight for each section, and look for advertisements--ie: parker bros. or an anniversary edition game, or a new release of a computer/console game-- also, gotta break out the responsitilies...(Yes, I said responsitilities, not responsibilities, because the former is more fun.)

For the group as a whole: (According to Baker-Boss:)
(1) Preliminary Schedule from each team is due on week 3.
(2) Time sheet from each team member
(3) Theme, logo, graphic standards - rough draft due (meaning changes are still possible)

Hey there,

I just thought I'd try and post an image... hopefully it won't be too large, I'm just testing for now. Either way, I thought I'd post the "idea board" I started for our project so far. I've collected a ton of images for ideas, so I'll show you all of those when we meet on Thursday. I'm going to work more on the proposal tomorrow, so I'll post that if I get it done. If not, I'll see you both on Thursday:)

Hey guys,

I just had a question for you... are we supposed to prepare a PowerPoint, or just some information to present to the class about our proposal? I was just looking through my notes and wasn't sure what we needed to do. I haven't done much more research yet, but when I do, I'll post it on here for you both to view.
