Yo!  Here's the new die for the 45 record.  I thought I'd add in a handle feature, for those DJs who still "dig" (shopping for vinyl) it'll be easier for them to carry, sort of like a shopping bag.  There will be either a spot of velcro or a strip of it to hold the record jacket close.

"canaan"... sorry

shannon

lookin good so far cannan :)

45 jacket

Here is the die for the jacket.  what you see here is a rough, I mocked it up at home and I still have to make a few adjustments to the folds.  The jacket is approximately 7.125 inches in perimeter so the 7 inch record can slide in and out easily.  There will be a 3.65 inch circle die cut as you can see in the center of the die so peeps can see the artwork on the record as well as the outside of the jacket.

45 rpm

Chicos y chica.  So I decided to do a 45 rpm record instead of a 12" vinyl record for a couple of reasons.  1. It's cuter 2. It'll be cheaper and easier to print and mock up the die for it.  To the left you'll see some specs for the 45 record.  I'll be designing a jacket for it and the graphics for the album work to go along with it.  The actual record is 7 inches in diameter.  The artwork area is 3 inches in diameter with a 1 inch circumference.

Here is the new schedule for Team D.  Thanks for the feedback in class, as a professional who has and still is in the field, I value your opinion.  Have a gr8 thanksgiving everyone.

Here's my original idea of having the logo and info. on the outside, accept I consolidated it instead of putting them on separate flaps.

Here is the back of the flyer so far...

web banner semi-comp

Here's a rough storyboard for a web banner for our company. I plan to design it in either flash or after effects, i just wanted to layout all the key elements so I have an idea of how I'm going to animate it. I'm picturing the type vibrating to music.

I did some research and found some standardized sizes for web ads, and also that they should run for 15 seconds.

After Receiving Feedback

I have decided not to post the comments on the midterm presentations but rather to present them as part of the one on one midterm evaluations that will take place this week.

There will be a section on the evaluation sheet that each student receives that addresses the midterm presentation that took place last week.

Several students that I asked expressed that they favored this to the posted evaluation.

Affirmations are good:)

You guys are champions, for real.  I say that without sarcasm.  Good work people!

T-Shirt Design

Here is a detail shot of the T-Shirt Design I've created for our company. I figured this could be the uniform for our promotional street team. It's a 3-color print done in halftone dots and hatching. The 2nd image is the entire design. Still not sure if this should be a chest print, or a back print. I'm debating putting the logo on the chest, and this design on the back.

Shannon

Can you send me text instead of picture for all the info?

shannon

Preston, the logos I posted are the highest res logos I could possibly find! Some of the logos weren't even on google images. I'll start tracing over them if you want, but I don't want to bother doing that unless it will be used. I think the House of Blues logo is the only one that has high enough res. What should I do?

Canaan

Here is what the back of the side loading envelope will look like, colors are negotiable.  The shape of the opening flap reflects the over all shape of the logo, I think it gives the opening flap an interesting twist, don't you?  I also added the little play arrow from the business card to serve as sort of a "Pull in this direction" type thing.  The contact information you see is another option if the window doesn't fly.

Canaan

Hey guys,

Here's my new idea for the letter head and envelope.  So I figure the envelope have a little window with acetate over it to show our contact info. instead of printing it on the envelope.  What you're looking at is the back of the letter head with the front of the envelope and how the letter head will look once it's folded and put in the envelope, which is side loading by the way.

Shannon

I need higher res. for the logos if possible, I am probably gunna need ai versions so ill have to trace over them

Posting feedback

I apologize for not posting feedback to you presentations as promised on Friday. I have suffered the loss of a close family member (my uncle). I will post comments as soon as possible. - Lindsey Baker

Here is the beginning of the back of the flyer

All DJ Info
- the pages are not in order fyi...
top image pg 3, middle image pg 2, bottom image pg 1

letter head fold

Here is what the client would see when he/she unfolds the top flap of the letter head.  Our address would be right in front of them on the bottom left hand corner.  The dashed lines indicate that there is still another third that is still folded.  The faded logo is where it would be when the client unfolds the top flap.

To Shannon

Too Much info for the dj's, Just that first paragraph will due, and can you find me like 3-4 more, with pictures of the djs? For the rest of the information, It looks very good. Should we use the venue logos?

letter head folded

So here's what the letter head would look like when you fold it into thirds.  This is what our clients would be looking at when they pull the letter head out of the envelope.

canaan_week6

Alright so here's what I was thinking as far as the letter head goes.  What you're looking at is the back of the letter head.  The address and logo are upside down because when they are folded into 3rds, they'll make sense.  You'll see in my later posts.

also... here is the flyer a bit redone. I have to create the back of the flyer and create the text for the front. I had some text for the front already but I want to redo it. Any suggestions as to where I should put the text? I was thinking about having an event name on the front and the date only, but I dont want to cover the sky.

Here is the DJ info Preston

DJ Dan began spinning in L.A.'s early '90s rave scene and then became the main DJ for San Francisco's aptly-named Funky Techno Tribe. Along with headlining raves in the US and worldwide, DJ Dan has remixed popular dance artists such as Cirrus and released albums and singles on labels such as Ultimatum, Kinetic and Moonshine, including 1998's Beats 4 Freaks, 1999's Funk The System and 2000's Put That Record Back On.

DJ Dan was raised in Seattle and eventually settled in Pasadena and San Francisco, California. Living in California exposed Dan to different kinds of music; such as high energy and hip-hop and rap from Los Angeles and disco and house from San Francisco. Originally a fashion design major, Dan put design on hold when he decided that music was his true calling. In 1996 Dan released his first mix CD, Loose Caboose. After building a DJ career locally, Dan started building a production career. The production aspect took off for Dan when he did a remix for Orgy's cover of "Blue Monday." In 1998 he released the mix CD, Beats 4 Freaks on Moonshine. Dan put himself on the club hit map with the release of "That Zipper Track" and "Needle Damage" in 1999. The tracks exploded onto the club circuit and were further impacted with the release of remixes by Terry Mullan and the mix CD, Funk the System. The popularity of the releases earned him a slot on a world wide tour with fellow label artist Carl Coxand producing remixes for other Moonshine artists like Cirrus. Another Late Night along with the single Put That Record Back On followed in 2000, speeding along Dan's career.

Preston,
DJ info for DJ's page

the first image is actually paul oakenfold, the image is better than the one below but i thought having an action shot might be good too. So what we can do is either interchange the name in the body copy below or we can just use the action shot. Whatever...
